For over 60 years players from around the globe have come to Montgomery to battle their tennis skills in the spring of every year. Jack Bushman is the judge of these battles and created the tournament. He was the captain of his tennis team in high school and his College team at Louisiana State University and became well known as “Mr. Tennis”. Jack Bushman is the most notable player in the Blue-Gray match-up history because he was the creator and for a while he was competing against other players. The Blue-Gray Football Christmas Classic was one we looked forward to every year. It joined some of the best players of the year from Division I football. Everyone put their rivalries aside, and simply played their best for the honor of being invited to participate; and because every professional football team, and agent, would be watching.

Montgomery, Alabama was host to this 64 year old tradition. The bowl became a nationally televised event on Christmas day (more…)

The Blue-Gray Football Classic began as an annual all-star college football game in 1939. It was held on Christmas Day in Alabama at Crampton Stadium. The game was not held in 2002, but was played again in 2003 in Troy, Alabama. That would be the end of the Blue-Gray Classic due to lack of sponsorship.

The Blue-Gray Classic was a competition between colleges in the former Confederacy, who wore white jerseys and colleges in the northern regions of the country who wore blue. Only seniors (more…)

The Blue Gray Football Classic game has been a football tradition in college sports for almost a century in college football’s history as of today. The game was begun during the era of the Civil War, and has been played annually on Christmas Day (december 25th) for as long as the tradition has been going on. The Blue and Gray uniforms which are worn are worn in commemoration of both sides of the war (confederates and the patriots).
